Sofia Firdous
Sofia Firdaus (Odia:ସୋଫିଆ ଫିର୍ଦ୍ଦୋସ୍) (born 1992) is an Indian politician and a 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election from Barabati-Cuttack Assembly constituency. She is member of the Indian National Congress.[1][2][3] She is the first woman from Muslim community to get elected as an Member of the Legislative Assembly in Odisha.[4][5]
Early life and education[edit]
Sofia hails from Cuttack and is the daughter of former Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim.[6] She married Sheikh Mairajul Haque. She schooling from St. Joseph's Girl's High School, Cuttack and Ravenshaw Junior College. Later, she did Bachelor of Technology. in Civil Engineering at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, affiliated to KIIT University, Bhubaneswar in 2013. She also did Executive General Management Programmer at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore in 2022.[7][8]
She was managing Real estate business after studies and was also the president of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (Credai) Bhubaneswar chapter.[9]
Career[edit]
Sofia made her political debut from Barabati-Cuttack Assembly constituency in the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election defeating Purna Chandra Mahapatra of Bharatiya Janata Party by a margin of 8,001 votes.[4]
