Mir also spelled as Meer (Kashmiri: میٖر, Persian: مير) is a Kashmiri tribe.[1] (meaning 'elite, general') native to the Kashmir

Origin[edit]

Mir is a surname among Kashmiri Muslims. Its origins can be traced back to the 14th century, when a group of migrants from Persia accompanying Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani arrived in Kashmir during the reign of the Shahmir dynasty. These migrants were followers of a Sufi named Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani, these members were Persian Artisan contributing in Persianization and Islamisation of Kashmir.
